for everyone from beginners to enthusiasts
For an espresso shot ensure that your coffee beans are finely ground, approximately the same texture as table salt. This will ensure that you are receiving the best quality possible.
Coffee is a personal process and should therefore be tailored to our own personal preferences. Our Brew Guides serve as a starting point to ensure you are getting the most out of your coffee and receiving the highest quality product possible.
Turn on your espresso machine and allow it to heat up. This may take a few minutes.
Whilst your machine is heating, grind your coffee beans.
Twist and remove the portafilter from your machine.
Pour your grounds into the portafilter and tap lightly to even out the surface.
Tamp tightly for a even brew.
Brush away any excess coffee and replace the portafilter, locking it into the brew head of your machine.
Turn on your machine and allow the coffee to extract, aiming for a 25-30 second extraction time.
You can adjust the extraction time by adjusting the grind of your beans. Coffee will flow more slowly with a finer grind and more quickly with a coarser grind.
Tip: Ensure that you are not grinding your coffee beans too finely to avoid a bitter tasting brew.
